SINGAPORE — Singapore is not completely immune from a tsunami and should prepare for the possibility, an expert on coastal areas warned Friday.
The island—state can be hit by a tsunami generated from three locations and the waves could damage key coastal infrastructure without being too high, said Professor Wong Poh Poh of the National University of Singapore geography department.
"It’s not that we are totally immune. No, we are not immune," Wong said.
He was speaking at a news conference to launch a report, by the aid and development organisation World Vision, on the impact of climate change on poor people.
To cause damage, waves hitting Singapore need not be as huge as the ones that devastated Indonesia’s Aceh in December 2004, killing 168,000 people, Wong said.
Aceh was struck by a wave about 10 metres (33 feet) high.
"We don’t need 10 metres. The problem with Singapore is... we have a lot of infrastructure on the coast. All you need is a very low wave to just come in and hit certain areas," he said.
"Changi Airport will be very vulnerable," he said, adding the man—made island of Jurong which houses a sprawling petrochemical complex is also at risk, and urged the government to commission a study on tsunamis.

昨晚教完tution后，就去party world找宝贝。我在party world吃晚餐。然后就搭taxi上班了。我在工作的时候买了两张dvd. 哈哈！放了工，我就到宝贝的家。我们一起煮快熟面，看"I Am Legend"。那个狗狗好可怜。看了好伤心，让我想到了boyboy. aiya,我好累了，upload几张照片就算了！

yday went to shopping with rain and nat. we're totally gone... haha. damm tiring. i guess i am really old, cant stand da walking and standing. bought da longchamp bag & lv card holder. :) den headed to bugis to shop for clothes. well, nth to buy actually. den we went to da cosy nail place to have our nails done... without acrylic, my nails really sucks. acrylic really does enough harm to my nails... da enviroment is nice, price is slightly higher, but da nails sucks. mayb i am too rough... hmmm.... but not recommended to do ur nails at there, mayb for pedi only... bcos really comfy... later 3 of us cabbed down to work, as usual. busy friday. after work, i was kidnap by manager to fly. ok... last night i really enjoy... thanks to all my friends... they really take good care of me especially rain. i wanted to buy da neverfull and speedy. but i could only choose 1 now. actually i wanted saleya more, but i could not afford now. i'm shocked of how lv has increase da price of da bags. da jie told me she bought da speedy 30 for $900 last yr. now speedy 30 is a thousand plus. i checked speedy 25, its $980 now! last dec was only $950. i guess da myth is true, every few mths, lv will increase by $30 - $40. so therefore, lv is a valued bag. worth buying.

ya, i am at ten mile now. just finish a movie with aloy and co at wm. i am jobless now. screw my boss! hate her to da core. like finally i can force her to sack me. had a heat argument with her jus now! at least i scold her until i shuang le. have to find a night job as soon as possible. cant possibly slack, i still have instalments, hp bill and transportation to pay for! my burden is not light at all... second, is also i cant let my jess to starve... she needs a job too. luckily i meet a good customer today. she recommend me a nice day job. have to give a call to da job in-charge and send in my resume tomorrow... will update when i got da job and see how is it like. dun really intend to go back da same line currently, unless for my free lance. lanying jus intro me da singtel event... she will help me settle everything. hope everything will be ok. definitely must have more income! thanks. :)
